Hello, I am Sophia
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment slowly became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the long-range plan. Like many international moves, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much bigger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks felt more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the go. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and started to build something that felt secure.
Why I Built Amber Field Craft
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance rooted in real life in Netherlands.
